Fat Dissolving Injections

FAT DISSOLVING INJECTIONS @ NON SURGICAL LIPOLYSIS

Who are fat dissolving injections for?

This is intended for patients with pockets of localised fat not responding to diet or increased physical exercise. It is not intended for weight loss but rather to improve and alter the contour of the body by removing stubborn areas of fat.

Commonly treated areas include double chin, jowls, upper arms, waist, abdomen, saddle bags, buttocks, banana rolls, thighs and cellulitic skin.

Who is an Ideal candidate?

The ideal candidate for the fat dissolving injection treatment is someone who is not interested in a surgical procedure and who has a stubborn area of fat which is relatively non-responsive to dieting and exercise.

There is a spectrum of efficacy with treatments for fat removal with surgical liposuction still remaining the gold standard for removal of fat, however many people are not interested in the downtime, expense or the surgical nature of this procedure.

Which areas can be treated?

Lipolysis achieves good results in the following body zones:

Chin (double chin)

Cheeks (sagging)

Knees

Ankles

Hips (love handles)

Lipoma

Thighs (saddlebags)

Abdomen

Upper arms (arm toning)

Pseudo gynecomastia (male breasts)

Back (bra fat or muffin top)

Corrective measures after liposuction

Cellulitic areas

How is the treatment delivered?

The doctor will take a thorough medical history and examine you to make sure that you are a suitable candidate and that there are no contraindications to treatment.

You should be fully informed about the benefits and all common and important side effects.

Best practice is to then give you a few days or weeks to consider the treatment before it is carried out.

Is the treatment painful?

The treatment itself is relatively simple. It is delivered through injection points using a long thin needle to access the subcutaneous fat.

The procedure is generally not uncomfortable and most patients report discomfort levels of 1–3 on a scale of 1–10 (10 being severe).

Does it work?

While results can’t be compared to surgical liposuction, where large amounts of fat are permanently removed from the body, the results of fat dissolving injections are still permanent. The treatment takes time to reach its full effect but patients that have undergone follow-up examinations seven years after therapy still show reduction in fat tissue in the treated areas. An added benefit is that the skin tightens naturally during the healing process and it is not normally necessary to treat lax skin separately. If required, this can be done later with energy based devices (ultrasound or radiofrequency) or a thread-lift after treatment.

Is there a guarantee?

As with all medical therapies there is no guarantee of fully successful treatment. Some patients get good results from 3-4 treatments, but many require more treatments. In larger areas more sessions will be required. Up to 8 sessions are required for difficult areas in some cases. The recommended interval between repeat treatments is 2-4 weeks.

Is it safe?

It is only sold and delivered by medical professionals in the UK.

No major untreatable side effects have occurred in over 2 million treatments world wide so far.

Not one single incidence of overdose or toxic effects has been recorded.

In fact the dissolving ingredients gradually work over a period of 2 weeks after the injection. This helps to improve safety and minimise side effects.

Is it costly?

The charges are per injection area per session. Prices start from £800 per session.  It can be costly if large areas persist. Whilst in some patients results maybe visible after just one session in some further sessions are required with the added costs.

What happens after treatment?

You will have swelling and redness in the area where we dissolve the fat for a few weeks. This starts to settle after a few days and is normally gone in 3–4 weeks.

You may have some discomfort but this is not usually severe.

A little bruising is expected, especially if blood thinning agents such as aspirin, Ibuprofen (Nurofen or Advil), fish or krill oil, flaxseed oil or multivitamins have been ingested in the previous two weeks.

About 1 in 5 patients get a numb sensation in the treated area, which settles after a few weeks or months in all cases.

As with any injections, an allergic reaction can occur. Please tell your doctor if you are allergic to any substance.

Rarely, ulceration and subsequent scarring can occur and tender persistent lumps in the area injected have been reported.

The result can also occasionally be uneven, and if this is the case, further injections may be required.

Post Injection care

You should not exercise for 5 days and some patients find mild compression clothing (e.g. Spandex) helps for non-facial treatment areas.

A low calorie diet can help to increase the effectiveness of the treatment.

Complete the recommended course of therapy. Remember that good results will require at least three treatments, ideally two to four weeks apart.

Massage the treated area 5 minutes a day, 5 times a day for 5 days.

Tender lumps may be palpable for up to a month after treatment which is indicative of fat necrosis or fat cell death. It is normal for this to sometimes occur.

Moderate alcohol consumption post treatment is acceptable.

Some people experience some palpable lumps or unevenness after injectable Lipolysis/Mesotherapy. Massage (manual or a hand held massager) is helpful to increase circulation and smooth out any unevenness. This “lumping” will improve naturally over time.

Extended bruising or brown discoloration in the area treated can occur. This will settle with time.

Some itching similar to that experienced with hives can occur and is not a reason for concern. This usually lasts two to three days and can be treated with an antihistamine and a topical hydrocortisone cream, both available over the counter at your pharmacy if required.

Cosmetic improvement takes approximately three months to begin in majority of cases and final results in a selected few may not be seen for up to one year after treatment.

Fat dissolving injection treatment does not work on about 5% of patients.

Long-term benefit is possible with a healthy lifestyle.

The doctor will see you again after 2-4 weeks for review and to consider further treatments.

Why Autumn is the perfect time for aesthetic treatments

In order to maximise the results from cosmetic surgery, it’s important to plan according to the season and your schedule. Whilst tweakments are easy to squeeze in here and there throughout the year, if you’re planning anything more heavy-duty, the autumnal season provides the perfect storm of elements to achieve top results and a discreet and comfortable recovery. Here are some treatments we recommend taking advantage of during the sweater weather.

  1. Laser hair removal – If you’re looking for a more permanent solution for unwanted facial hair or excess body hair, laser hair removal is the perfect option. A course of treatments to fully destroy the follicle can leave the skin temporarily sensitive to sunlight and you may experience some redness and irritation immediately after. For exposed skin areas such as legs, arms and face, consider starting the treatment in September.
  2. Tummy tuck – A tummy tuck scar takes between several months to a year to fade. Logistically, the autumn months are the only time to undergo the procedure, if you want to maintain your winter holiday and summer lifestyle. Baggy sweaters hide the post-op compression bandages and scars will fade in time for your summer holidays.
  3. Chemical peels – This glow-tastic treatment is the go-to option for anyone suffering from lacklustre, dull, lined facial skin. It supercharges skin rejuvenation. The only drawback is that two weeks downtime is needed to recuperate after the peel procedure, and sunscreen is a necessity for at least three months after the treatment. The longer nights and darker days during winter offer the perfect opportunity to hunker down and recuperate.
  4. Breast augmentation – Clients often find the colder months preferable to recover from a breast augmentation, as you can discreetly settle into your new enhanced shape from the comfort of sweaters and coats. Undergoing the procedure in the fall also ensures you’ll be on tip-top form for the winter party season.
  5. Laser skin resurfacing – Laser resurfacing sloughs away the outer layer of dead skin cells to encourage regeneration deep in the skin’s membrane. It’s loved for its ability to eliminate lines and wrinkles. Invest in the autumnal months: recovery will be so much easier due to reduced sunlight. It’s important to protect yourself from the sun during the 3 month recovery period to prevent pigmentation problems. Undertaking it during the autumn months will give you a headstart.
  6. Brazilian butt lift – Conceal your augmented shape and recover discreetly from a Brazilian butt lift during the cooler, more comfortable autumnal months. Re-emerge for the winter season fully recovered and ready to celebrate the holidays with friends and family.

Jennifer Lopez’s beauty secrets revealed!

J-Lo recently celebrated her 50th birthday, but the pop icon looks barely a day over 30. Here we take a guess at the secrets behind what’s keeping this diva looking so divine. To help you understand the behind-the-scenes beauty of achieving such a miraculously youth look, we’ve done some expert analysis for you and produced a cheat sheet for everyone looking to age so gracefully.

What’s down to simply good genes? And what can only be achieved with a nip, tuck and a tweak? Here’s our opinion, from brow to toe.

Looking at before and after images of Jennifer Lopez, it is obvious she has certainly had a number of cosmetic treatments done. And by cosmetic treatments, we don’t necessarily mean cosmetic surgery, per se.

Forehead – She is certainly using muscle relaxing treatments to the forehead to relax her forehead lines with botulinum toxin, and around the eyes, too, to prevent any crow feet wrinkles forming around this delicate region.

Brows – Her eyebrows have maintained their position likely due to an eyebrow lift, which has the added effect of keeping her eyes looking more open, creating a youthful appearance. She doesn’t have the tired appearance look that one gets with the aging process.

Eyes – Her under eyes look like they have filler in the tear trough region or usage of PDO thread. This has the added benefit of not just lifting the skin, stimulating collagen production, tightening the pores, promoting new blood vessel formation and orbital rejuvenation.

Nose  – She has almost certainly had a rhinoplasty, alarplasty and tip refinement to her nose. The nasal bridge appears narrower and straighter and her alas, (the nostril area of the nose) have been reduced in size because they are in line with her inter-canthal distance (the distance between her medial part of the eyes). Mind you, most of these outcomes can also be achieved with PDO threads in specific regions of the nose, so this also may have been used.

Cheeks – Her cheeks look filled with cheek filler. They appear well defined and contoured, enabling her to use less makeup to achieve the effect of high cheekbones.

Naso-labial area – She doesn’t appear to have deep smile lines or nasolabial folds, which might be attributed to the usage of dermal fillers or a thread lift in that area.

Lips- Her lips look augmented both in definition (around the lips) and volume (within the lips) with the help of fillers.

Jaw – Her jaw angle and jawline looks cosmetically tweaked, which may be due to using fillers to contour the jaw. The margins of the jaw are more protruded, broader, and more angular, which is the case when jawline augmentation and refinement is done. It could also be the case that she has had toxin injected into the masseters to give her a more v-shaped jawline.

Chin – Her chin looks augmented to put it in proportion to her facial dimensions. This aides the perception of a refined jawline, as the skin is tight around that region. She also doesn’t have visible marionette lines (the lines from the angle of the mouth to the chin), which implies that they have been filled with filler or PDO threaded.

Skin – Her skin looks radiant and could be due to laser therapy to the skin. Laser therapy revitalises the skin whilst reducing discolouration of the skin and evening out of her skin tone. No doubt she has a team of Hollywood facialists and make-up artists taking great care of her skin.

Good genes – Of course, everyone’s looks are dictated by their genes; and it would seem she has a very good set of genes that make her more predisposed towards aging gracefully. It has also helped that she has physically maintained herself and kept herself healthy. However, it would be hard to fathom a 50 year old woman looking this youthful without the help of cosmetic interventions and tweakments!

6 tips to remove your stretch marks

An estimated 80% of us have stretch marks. They develop when rapid growth happens in a short period of time, causing a visible rupture of collagen. Some people wear them with pride calling them their ‘tiger stripes’, and others find that they fade in time to a less noticeable light silver. However, the majority of us find that they don’t budge and seek solutions to help them fade. Here are six ways to tackle stretch marks.

Try laser therapy

Laser therapy can help reduce the appearance of stretch marks. It works by heating up the upper layers of the skin’s tissue, causing underlying fibres to produce more collagen; stimulating the skin to repair and restore damaged cells.

Moisturise skin with Bio-Oil

Retaining your skin’s moisture and elasticity by keeping it hydrated can help. Try cult product Bio-Oil, which contains soothing and anti-inflammatory properties which reduce the appearance of stretch marks.

Invest in a chemical peel

If you’re suffering from severe stretch marks that don’t fade with gentler methods, try an intensive chemical peel. The chemical, phenol, is able to permeate the dermis at a very deep level to remove the outer layers of skin and dead skin cells, revealing renewed, plumper, more youthful skin beneath, free of unsightly silvery stripes.

Take regular exercise

Exercise improves circulation, helping skin to preserve elastin and protect against the formation of stretch marks. Build this into your regular routine.

Consider fillers

Fillers can enhance and improve stretch marks. PRP, PRF and HA fillers work by injecting concentrated proteins into your skin to stimulate collagen growth and trigger accelerated healing deep down. These fillers contain incredibly powerful growth factors and proteins that have immense healing power when unleashed near the site of a stretch mark injury.

Experiment with micro-needling

Try a micro-needling treatment such as eDermastamp to restore collagen production deep in the layers of your skin. The treatment is administered with a professional electronic device, similar to a microneedle. These ultra-fine needles are rolled over the stretch mark, enabling absorption of potent treatments and causing stretch marks to fade.

Supple and healthy skin are perennially important for wellness inside and out, hence skin tags removal is one of the most salient endeavors emphasized in the contemporary skin care industry. Before going further into this crucial task, it is imperative that you first know what this skin condition is all about. Accurate diagnosis is vital in order to determine what appropriate treatment is needed for you to embark on.

For starters, you must basically know what are tags, fundamental symptoms, and their causes. Tags or acrochordons are harmless benign tumors characterized by a formation of protruding excess or flaps of skin. Before you resort to tags removal, make sure that it is indeed because malignant cases are not at all recommended for natural or ordinary removals. It is best to consult the cosmetic surgeon before resorting to the valuable and common tips in removing those types of skin problem.

People suffering from tags have actually two main options:

1. For removal processes through clinical procedures:

For the removal of their skin issues. You may have your tags removed through going to derma clinics and seeking professional assistance. You may opt for cryosurgery or ligation. The former procedure is done through freezing the skin tags using liquid nitrogen which is much quicker and safer.

The latter on the other hand is done through cutting off the blood flow to the tags which causes the excess skin to eventually fall off. Your derma may also use scissors or through cauterizing or burning the cells in the skin or wound using an electrically heated metal.

2. Natural removal is another option :

This is done by using tea tree oil and castor oil. Do the removal of this tag by washing the skin tags with water and soap as you let it dry out.

Then soak a cotton ball in water and drop tea tree or castor oil three times and rub it against the infected skin. Castor oil can also be mixed with baking soda to make a paste to apply on the tags.

The subject no man wants to talk about prematurely

Everyone has had some issue or the other. A malfunction at the wrong time or as one ages, a malfunction most of the time.

That doesn’t mean there isn’t a solution for this. But there is a golden rule, if you don’t ask for help then how are you going to get any help?

Erectile Dysfunction (Premature Ejaculation)

What is Premature Ejaculation?

Premature ejaculation (Erectile Dysfunction)  is a common ejaculatory problem. It occurs before even sexual intercourse or within seconds of sexual intercourse. In other words, ejaculation occurs before the man wants it to happen. It may occur before or after beginning foreplay or intercourse. Some men experience a lot of personal distress because of this condition. Whilst some men have episodes every now and then, if you’re finding that 50% of the time your experiencing pre-mature ejaculation, it is about time that you did something. You don’t have to suffer in silence.

Is Premature Ejaculation common?

It affects 1 in 5 men i.e 20% of the male population who have been affected at some point in their life.

Why does it happen?

There has been a few known factors which contribute to premature ejaculation. Psychological problems such as stress, depression and other factors that affect mental, emotional and biological factors can make some men more prone to experience premature ejaculation.

How do you know if you have Premature Ejaculation?

The key symptoms of premature ejaculation include:

   –  Ejaculation with little sexual stimulation and with poor or little control;

   –  Decreased sexual pleasure because of poor control over ejaculation

   –  Feelings of guilt, embarrassment or frustration

Premature ejaculation is diagnosed based on your history and any underlying causes. A thorough sexual history will have to be discussed. Be frank and open. The more your Cosmetic Surgeon knows, the better they can help you.

If your sexual history fails to reveal significant mental or emotional factors that may contribute to premature ejaculation, your doctor may want to examine you. Your doctor may examine your prostate or do neurological tests (tests of your nervous system) to determine if there is a physical problem that could be causing premature ejaculation.

How long does Premature Ejaculation last?

Sometimes, premature ejaculation is self-limiting i.e they go away on their own. Some may last a few weeks to a few months, others longer.

Working to relieve the underlying issues may help the situation to improve. Some men respond to treatment promptly, while others struggle with this problem over a prolonged period. Treatment is available and it does work.

How do you prevent Premature Ejaculation?

There is no known way to prevent premature ejaculation. However, you should maintain a healthy attitude toward sex and lead a healthy lifestyle. If you experience feelings of anxiety, guilt or frustration about your sex life, consider seeking help.

Anyone can experience sexual problems. If you experience premature ejaculation, don’t blame yourself or feel inadequate. Try speaking openly with your partner to avoid miscommunication. There are treatments available.

What are the treatments for Premature Ejaculation?

Doing nothing is one of them.

There are a number of things you can try yourself before seeking medical help.

The outlook is good when treatment is sought.

It can sometimes help to:

–  masturbate prior to having sex an hour or two before

–  use a thicker condom to decrease sensation However, these techniques may  interfere with the  pleasure experienced during sex.

–  take a deep breath to briefly shut down the ejaculatory reflex

–  have sex with your partner on top (to allow them to pull away when you are close to ejaculating)

–  take breaks during sex and think about something boring.

The use of topical anaesthetics can help to decrease sensation but may be transferred and absorbed to the vagina, causing decreased sensation to both you and your partner.

The use of certain medications is another which needs to be taken regularly. They take time to work. They stop working once you stop taking them.

Behavioural and Couples therapy are others.

What is the average sex cycle?

In one study an average time from the start of sexual intercourse to ejaculation took 5 minutes 30 seconds.

What else can be done long term?

If you’re tired of taking daily medications, or applying anesthetic creams prior to intercourse and not enjoying sexual intercourse as you or your partner should, there maybe one longer term solution for you.

Hyaluronic Acid (Dermal Fillers). Its important to realise they have an enormous role to play.

The results of using dermal fillers in the glans penis suggest that glandular augmentation with injectable Hyaluronic Acid gel is a safe and effective modality to reduce sensory of glans penis.

In studies the ejaculatory time from start to finish increased significantly.

How long does the procedure take?

The procedure takes 45 mins to perform in the clinic. It is only performed after a thorough consultation is carried out by our Cosmetic Surgeon and if it is deemed safe for you. You should allot an hour from start to finish on consultation and treatment. Some cases may take longer and every case is assessed on its own merits.

Is it painful?

We always use a local anaesthetic to numb the area which is left for 20-30 minutes or a nerve block to numb the area faster. Thereafter you will feel that something is happening but you should not feel any pain per se.

How long does this procedure last?

This can last upto 6-12 months. At the 6 month mark the HA fillers start to breakdown and by the 12th month mark they are completley dissolved and absorbed by the body. We would recommend a touch up procedure at the 6-8th month mark to maintain the effectiveness.

How much does this cost?

Prices start at £1,500. A final price can only be determined upon consultation. You should estimate that you would need to do this procedure at least twice a year.

How do I prepare for this procedure?

Keep the area dry and clean.

Avoid blood thinning over-the-counter medications such as Aspirin, Motrin, Ibuprofen, and Aleve one week prior to injections.

Avoid supplements, including St. John’s Wort, gingko biloba, primrose oil, garlic, ginseng, and Vitamin E for one week prior to injections.

Avoid waxing, bleaching, tweezing, or hair removal cream on the area to be treated for 2 days prior.

Do not drink alcoholic beverages 24 hours prior.

Start taking Arnica two days prior to the procedure. (This is not required, but will help to lessen bruising).

It isn’t advisable to use dermal fillers if you are allergic to any ingredients, or suffer from neurological disorders.

Are there any side effects?

You will have swelling and redness from a few days and may last for weeks. This starts to settle after a few days and is normally gone in 3–4 weeks. To help alleviate swelling, we recommend an antihistamine during the day, like Zyrtec or Claritin, and Benedryl at night.

You may have some discomfort but this is not usually severe.

little bruising is expected, especially if blood thinning agents such as aspirin, Ibuprofen (Nurofen or Advil), fish or krill oil, flaxseed oil or multivitamins have been ingested in the previous two weeks. To help alleviate bruising, we recommend taking Arnica or Bromelain, eating fresh pineapple, and applying ice to the area.

If there is a visible bump, you can massage the area. Depending on the areas treated and the product used, you may feel “firmness.” These areas will soften and settle with time (usually 1-2 weeks).

Whilst not everyone experiences these side effects, they have been reported and you should be informed that they can occur:

–  Recurrence of premature ejaculation

–  Glans pain or paresthesia

–  Erectile dysfunction

–  Haematoma

–  Scar formation

–  Infection

–  Wound breakdown

Where else can you use Hyaluronic Acid?

Any part of the body that requires volume or a lift.

From the face to genitals to the feet.

But this can be used to augment the penis or vagina in more ways than one.
