About Liposuction

The word Lipo means “fat” and the word Suction means “Sucking”. Liposuction is the removal of excess fatty tissues to reshape the body. Earlier, Liposuction was a cosmetic surgery more frequently used by women. Nowadays, men are also eager to have a well-sculptured body and hence undergo liposuction. It is done mainly to contour particular areas of the body by removing or reshaping localized fat deposits. It is not a form of weight loss program.

In this competitive business world, a common perception among men is that a young and fit person is more efficient in getting the job done. Eating disorders, untimely food habits, and obesity are now becoming very common in men. Hence, men tend to go for liposuction, as an immediate remedy for their obesity problems. For Liposuction, only small incisions are used, which are very easy to conceal.

Before and After liposuction

Male liposuction

Male liposuction is a cosmetic procedure that helps to model the body by getting rid of unwanted fat from certain areas. Almost all part of the body can be suctioned. The neck, the abdomen and the loin (commonly referred as the love handle area) are the most popular liposuction areas in men. Lately, more and more men are turning to facial liposuction to have an overall youthful and well-structured appearance.

Male liposuction is more expensive than liposuction for a female.

The primary reason being that the fat found in the male is more fibrous and hence, it is more difficult and time-consuming to remove when compared to that of females.

Secondly, men are typically larger than females, so liposuction in men involves a larger area.

The third reason is that the areas for which men most commonly request liposuction are body sites like chest or breast, neck, loin area, and abdomen, where the fat tends to be more fibrous.

Liposuction prices vary depending on the area of the body to be treated, the amount of correction needed for the specified area and the technology used.

How long is the recovery period for liposuction?

Male liposuction can easily be performed on an outpatient basis. In most cases, it is done with local anesthesia. Generally, most patients will be able to return to their normal activities within three days post surgery.

Usually, the once treated areas will not gain any considerable amount of fat. But it is possible to gain weight in other parts of the body. Side effects and complications of liposuction are usually rare. Recovery time from liposuction vary according to the individual and the extent of the procedure, and in some cases, residual swelling may last for several months.

Liposuction is considered as a safe procedure with no mortality and minimal risks of morbidity. Moreover, significant patient satisfaction is achieved when it is performed by experienced and qualified surgeons.

The subject no man wants to talk about prematurely

Everyone has had some issue or the other. A malfunction at the wrong time or as one ages, a malfunction most of the time.

That doesn’t mean there isn’t a solution for this. But there is a golden rule, if you don’t ask for help then how are you going to get any help?

Erectile Dysfunction (Premature Ejaculation)

What is Premature Ejaculation?

Premature ejaculation (Erectile Dysfunction)  is a common ejaculatory problem. It occurs before even sexual intercourse or within seconds of sexual intercourse. In other words, ejaculation occurs before the man wants it to happen. It may occur before or after beginning foreplay or intercourse. Some men experience a lot of personal distress because of this condition. Whilst some men have episodes every now and then, if you’re finding that 50% of the time your experiencing pre-mature ejaculation, it is about time that you did something. You don’t have to suffer in silence.

Is Premature Ejaculation common?

It affects 1 in 5 men i.e 20% of the male population who have been affected at some point in their life.

Why does it happen?

There has been a few known factors which contribute to premature ejaculation. Psychological problems such as stress, depression and other factors that affect mental, emotional and biological factors can make some men more prone to experience premature ejaculation.

How do you know if you have Premature Ejaculation?

The key symptoms of premature ejaculation include:

   –  Ejaculation with little sexual stimulation and with poor or little control;

   –  Decreased sexual pleasure because of poor control over ejaculation

   –  Feelings of guilt, embarrassment or frustration

Premature ejaculation is diagnosed based on your history and any underlying causes. A thorough sexual history will have to be discussed. Be frank and open. The more your Cosmetic Surgeon knows, the better they can help you.

If your sexual history fails to reveal significant mental or emotional factors that may contribute to premature ejaculation, your doctor may want to examine you. Your doctor may examine your prostate or do neurological tests (tests of your nervous system) to determine if there is a physical problem that could be causing premature ejaculation.

How long does Premature Ejaculation last?

Sometimes, premature ejaculation is self-limiting i.e they go away on their own. Some may last a few weeks to a few months, others longer.

Working to relieve the underlying issues may help the situation to improve. Some men respond to treatment promptly, while others struggle with this problem over a prolonged period. Treatment is available and it does work.

How do you prevent Premature Ejaculation?

There is no known way to prevent premature ejaculation. However, you should maintain a healthy attitude toward sex and lead a healthy lifestyle. If you experience feelings of anxiety, guilt or frustration about your sex life, consider seeking help.

Anyone can experience sexual problems. If you experience premature ejaculation, don’t blame yourself or feel inadequate. Try speaking openly with your partner to avoid miscommunication. There are treatments available.

What are the treatments for Premature Ejaculation?

Doing nothing is one of them.

There are a number of things you can try yourself before seeking medical help.

The outlook is good when treatment is sought.

It can sometimes help to:

–  masturbate prior to having sex an hour or two before

–  use a thicker condom to decrease sensation However, these techniques may  interfere with the  pleasure experienced during sex.

–  take a deep breath to briefly shut down the ejaculatory reflex

–  have sex with your partner on top (to allow them to pull away when you are close to ejaculating)

–  take breaks during sex and think about something boring.

The use of topical anaesthetics can help to decrease sensation but may be transferred and absorbed to the vagina, causing decreased sensation to both you and your partner.

The use of certain medications is another which needs to be taken regularly. They take time to work. They stop working once you stop taking them.

Behavioural and Couples therapy are others.

What is the average sex cycle?

In one study an average time from the start of sexual intercourse to ejaculation took 5 minutes 30 seconds.

What else can be done long term?

If you’re tired of taking daily medications, or applying anesthetic creams prior to intercourse and not enjoying sexual intercourse as you or your partner should, there maybe one longer term solution for you.

Hyaluronic Acid (Dermal Fillers). Its important to realise they have an enormous role to play.

The results of using dermal fillers in the glans penis suggest that glandular augmentation with injectable Hyaluronic Acid gel is a safe and effective modality to reduce sensory of glans penis.

In studies the ejaculatory time from start to finish increased significantly.

How long does the procedure take?

The procedure takes 45 mins to perform in the clinic. It is only performed after a thorough consultation is carried out by our Cosmetic Surgeon and if it is deemed safe for you. You should allot an hour from start to finish on consultation and treatment. Some cases may take longer and every case is assessed on its own merits.

Is it painful?

We always use a local anaesthetic to numb the area which is left for 20-30 minutes or a nerve block to numb the area faster. Thereafter you will feel that something is happening but you should not feel any pain per se.

How long does this procedure last?

This can last upto 6-12 months. At the 6 month mark the HA fillers start to breakdown and by the 12th month mark they are completley dissolved and absorbed by the body. We would recommend a touch up procedure at the 6-8th month mark to maintain the effectiveness.

How much does this cost?

Prices start at £1,500. A final price can only be determined upon consultation. You should estimate that you would need to do this procedure at least twice a year.

How do I prepare for this procedure?

Keep the area dry and clean.

Avoid blood thinning over-the-counter medications such as Aspirin, Motrin, Ibuprofen, and Aleve one week prior to injections.

Avoid supplements, including St. John’s Wort, gingko biloba, primrose oil, garlic, ginseng, and Vitamin E for one week prior to injections.

Avoid waxing, bleaching, tweezing, or hair removal cream on the area to be treated for 2 days prior.

Do not drink alcoholic beverages 24 hours prior.

Start taking Arnica two days prior to the procedure. (This is not required, but will help to lessen bruising).

It isn’t advisable to use dermal fillers if you are allergic to any ingredients, or suffer from neurological disorders.

Are there any side effects?

You will have swelling and redness from a few days and may last for weeks. This starts to settle after a few days and is normally gone in 3–4 weeks. To help alleviate swelling, we recommend an antihistamine during the day, like Zyrtec or Claritin, and Benedryl at night.

You may have some discomfort but this is not usually severe.

little bruising is expected, especially if blood thinning agents such as aspirin, Ibuprofen (Nurofen or Advil), fish or krill oil, flaxseed oil or multivitamins have been ingested in the previous two weeks. To help alleviate bruising, we recommend taking Arnica or Bromelain, eating fresh pineapple, and applying ice to the area.

If there is a visible bump, you can massage the area. Depending on the areas treated and the product used, you may feel “firmness.” These areas will soften and settle with time (usually 1-2 weeks).

Whilst not everyone experiences these side effects, they have been reported and you should be informed that they can occur:

–  Recurrence of premature ejaculation

–  Glans pain or paresthesia

–  Erectile dysfunction

–  Haematoma

–  Scar formation

–  Infection

–  Wound breakdown

Where else can you use Hyaluronic Acid?

Any part of the body that requires volume or a lift.

From the face to genitals to the feet.

But this can be used to augment the penis or vagina in more ways than one.
